Evaluation

For this task I had to choose a submission that I was interested in and create a submission whether I would submit the work or not.   I considered the work that I have been developing lately and where my interests lie. I looked at the Re-title website to see if there were any open calls that I liked for my work. I didn’t find any, so I went to a website that I had submitted work to before. I found one that I liked and started to develop my submission for that one. I went to the Outdoor Photography website and chose the Moment With Nature submission. I chose one of my recent Dartmoor Pony photos and developed the required synopsis as I did submit my work. I hope that my work is published in the magazine as it would get my name out there and I would win some money. The project blindsided us and I would have liked warning that we were getting a mini project in the first week back as I could have planned my time better and planned for any needed shoots. Despite this I feel that I...

Fourth Day

For the fourth day I made a short presentation to show to the class. I had to keep it to five minutes or less. I included process from choosing the submission to choosing which image to submit and why I chose the one that I did. I presented to the class and had prints of my top two images to show them. I felt that the presentation went OK as we were all limited with time to do this and I kind of just wanted to get on with my two main briefs

Third Day

Image
I decided which image that I was going to submit, I have actually submitted to the Moment With Nature brief. I chose this image as I felt it was the stronger of the two that I was considering. I also like the framing better and the story behind it fits with my current interest in conservation. I uploaded it with the following synopsis: I shot this image after a shoot with Dartmoor Speed watch. I was on the way home and spotted this pony on the verge by the roadside. I had to keep my distance as I didn't want to cause the pony to move away. I got lucky in the framing of the three ponies but I had to be aware of traffic as I had to stand in the road to get the shot. I typed up the worksheet and submitted that today on Google Classroom. There were some issues with getting the online worksheet, I ended up downloading it to fill it in.

Second Day

For the second day I looked for my SD card which had my most recent shoots on it. As I have recently moved I haven't been able to find it, so I downloaded a copy of one image from an email that I sent for a Chromaluxe Print (which I won in a competition). I went to meet my study skills support Louise and she helped me finish the worksheet and prepare for the Research Brief. After the meeting I went to get the images printed from the Print Lab but I shouldn't have been able to get them printed as it was closed (which I didn't know as the sign wasn't there) but they ultimately printed them for me after returning to get something. I had been to the Freshers Fair and had gotten some free pint vouchers for the roundabout and I gave them one. Moment with nature If you have an extraordinary wildlife or nature photography story you’d like to share, let us know. For this piece there is a lot of freedom with what to cover and the theme and tone change each issue. It can be o...

First Day

After getting the brief on Tuesday I had a look through the available submissions on Re-title and didn't find anything that I connected with for my work. I went on a website where I have submitted work before to see what they were looking for this month. I found a call for submissions called Moment With Nature. As I have often gone to Dartmoor to photograph the landscapes and wildlife, I felt that this was one that I could submit work to. I looked through my photos and found a couple that I liked for the brief. As they were from different shoots I decided to only submit one. I plan on choosing over the next couple of days. I filled out most of the worksheet on the first day, I did need to go and research possible theories that fit my work. All in all I feel that the first day was successful and provided me with a great start for the mini project.
